Anger Management in ChildrenAnger, a
normal but an ugly and painful emotion leads to a couple fighting, a parent
abusing a child, a teenager lashing out at a teacher or a parent. Though
child anger is rare, they are victims of anger and rage at a very young
age. This is a very hard truth, which we cannot easily swallow. A child should be instructed and guided from its very birth till it becomes an adult. What the child learns and experiences in its young life makes for its personality as an adult. It is for this reason that anger management for children assumes a great significance in controlling their temper. But this process is quite challenging. Specific programs are designed for the anger management of children. Many methods have to be tested to find the suitable one for a child. Response to the same treatment is totally different from one child to the other because the child is unaware of the feelings that cause an out burst. We have to continue our search till we come to the right approach. Worksheets, games and fun activities can be very effective in teaching anger management in children. Developing such programs is the best route to success unaware of working on their problem the child completes the worksheet, coloring sheet, and takes part in games and activities with underlying messages about anger management. Fun activities do not exclude the anger issue. It should teach healthy interaction and decision making for anger management. Children should take turns. They should know that they cannot be the best always and winning a fight is not going to matter much. Values and positive thinking must be instilled in children through small activities for anger management. Encourage the child to speak about its anger problem and share its emotions if it is old enough. Let it talk to some one with whom it is comfortable. Let the children write or draw about their emotions to show their underlying issues like fear threatened or angry. We should realize that they are children after all. They are not equipped to handle adult situations. They need and demand a more careful, cautious approach.
