Five Easy-To-Follw Rules To Avoid Procrastination

Procrastination is inherent and easy for a person at times but why should he strain and stress himself by putting off things instead of doing things right away and off loading the anxiety and stress? Here are five easy steps to prevent procrastination.

Tip one: Get Focused

Always see to it that you avoid temptation to do something else. Put away your phone, unplug the TV, lock the door, shut the curtains or do any thing to get focused on the project. Even at the cost of being alone in your room with the task at hand go ahead and do it.

Tip 2: Keep Away From Personal Disturbances

Don’t have helpers, friends and family who are likely to engage you in chatting. Let them know that you are too very busy to be disturbed, but for some emergency like a fire in the building or a bleeding injury for some one in the family.

Tip 3: Avoid Spending Too Much Time In The Nitty-Gritty

Detailed preparation leads to procrastination. Straight away prepare the report but not spend time in sharpening all the pencils. Don’t gather all the snacks and drinks to help you prepare your tax returns. Don’t gather and line up all the tools before you change the oil in your ear. Follow this guidance strictly.

Tip 4: Avoid False Guilt Trips

Don’t give in to any common and famous guilt trips as the classic guilt trip of any mommy. ”If I do ‘x’ then I won’t be spending precious time with my child”. Guilt trips are useless and are other ways of putting off what you have to do. Instead you can have plenty of play time with your kids after you finish your work.

Tip 5: Pamper Yourself With A Reward

Promise yourself a treat after you finish your task in order to avoid procrastination. It could be a gooey, chocolaty candy bar, eating out at a favorite restaurant or drink out with friends. Treating yourself regularly will train your brain not to hate doing jobs but have them. This will totally rid you of procrastination.
